Video Dissolve and Wipe Detection via Spatio-Temporal Images of Chromatic Histogram Differences

چکیده
Gradual transitions represent a challenging problem for temporal segmentation of video. Here we present two new features for detecting these. Recently, Ngo et al. set out a method for edge detection in spatio-temporal images made out of the central column (or row, or diagonal) of a video. A wipe generates a diagonal edge in such an image. In this paper we make use of all available pixels to generate spatio-temporal images. For each column of the frame (using only the DC values from a video MPEG), we form a 2D histogram based on chromaticity, and then intersect that histogram with that of the previous frame (one or several frames earlier). The result is an image in which cuts and wipes appear as very strong edges, almost 1’s in a background of zeroes. Dissolves require another approach; here we extend a color-distance based histogram metric due to Hafner et al. by applying the method to 2D Cb-Cr histograms and changing the definition so that the the metric displays a near-constant value during a dissolve, and zero elsewhere. We show results on videos that include fast subject motion and camera movements.

Camera Break Detection by Partitioning of 2D Spatio-Temporal Images in MPEG Domain
In this paper, we propose a new approach to detect camera cuts and wipes. The approach projects a video into two images representing the spatio-tempoml continuity of a video life. Visually, these images are composed by regions of diferent patterns, each region represents the temporal location of a shot. The shape of a region boundary inherently classifies cut and wipe, and most importantly, mar...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Parameters' Changes in Gait of Male Elderly Subjects
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare spatio-temporal gait parameters between elderly and young male subjects. Methods & Materials: 57 able-bodied elderly (72±5.5 years) and 57 healthy young (25±8.5 years) subjects participated in this study. A four segment model consist of trunk, hip, shank, and foot with 10 reflective markers were used to define lower limbs. Kinematic data c...
متن کاملA New Technique for Shot Detection and Key Frames Selection in Histogram Space
A video stream consists of a number of shots each of which has the boundary property, such as cut, fade, dissolve, wipe, etc. The shot boundary such like cut is detected easily through any previous works. However, the videos with more than two types of shot and the large motion of camera or objects have difficulties in extracting the boundary between the adjacent shots. False alarms are increas...
متن کاملA New Wavelet Based Spatio-temporal Method for Magnification of Subtle Motions in Video
Video magnification is a computational procedure to reveal subtle variations during video frames that are invisible to the naked eye. A new spatio-temporal method which makes use of connectivity based mapping of the wavelet sub-bands is introduced here for exaggerating of small motions during video frames. In this method, firstly the wavelet transformed frames are mapped to connectivity space a...
متن کاملFeature Tracking for Cut Detection
Recently, investigation into shot boundary detection schemes has gathered much momentum [20-29]. Cut detection is seemingly easily solved by an elementary statistical examination of inter-frame characteristics; however a truly accurate and generalized cut detection algorithm still eludes researchers. Reliable shot boundary detection forms the cornerstone for video segmentation applications as s...
